| Description: | In 1968, Barker’s began as a furniture refinishing shop on Government Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Within a few years we had evolved into a small antique store specializing in American country furniture and accessories, with just a few pieces of antique jewelry. !n 1976 Barker’s relocated to our current location. Jefferson Highway was a two lane road “in the country” and we had the best of all worlds, as our home was just a few feet away from the shop. We both worked in the business, yet could be with our two children - and we even had a horse in the back yard! It didn’t take long to decide that antique jewelry had become the major emphasis of the business and so, in a very little while, we became Barker’s Antique Jewelry, Inc. We specialized then, as now, in antique and period jewelry of the Victorian, Art Nouveau, Edwardian and Art Deco periods. |
